Doctor Who Ride On Dalek
Calling all tiny time lords! Brand new for Christmas 2011, the Dr Who Ride On Dalek has already been selected as one of Hamley’s top toy picks and is well on the way to becoming the must have toy of the year. Combine the popularity of the TV series with a gadget-style toy and you have a success in the making.
The price tag is pretty hefty but The Dr Who Ride on Dalek has got it all going on. We’re talking sound effects, lights, movement – the full monty. Standing at 128cm tall, the body of the dalek is made from ballistic nylon and laminated rubber polyvinyl, which makes it durable and tactile. It’s bad news for big kids. The Doctor Who Ride on Dalek is recommended for children aged 3-6 years. Larger fans of the TV series literally won’t fit into it; this is a toy for the mini sci-fi nerd.
The motorised base and inflatable body are easy to assemble and the dalek can be used indoors or out. It still can’t climb stairs but it does boast 360-degree movement and interior lights. Not to mention 10 sounds and phrases fans of the TV series are sure to recognise. The daleks can certainly shift and this one is no exception with a maximum speed of 3km per hour. Not bad for a toy!
Thankfully, it does come with a 6v rechargeable battery so can be played with instantly. The battery can handle at least 300 charges and will provide 1 hour and 10 minutes of constant use.
Priced at around £199.99 it is at the high end of the Christmas gift price spectrum but it’s worth every penny! If you do want to splurge on a spectacular Christmas wish list item, look no further. The Doctor Who Ride On Dalek is badass!
