FurReal Zambi The Baby Elephant
This cuddly Baby African Elephant Zambi was made by Hasbro specifically for the Hasbro Children’s Fund, a charity that created Project Zambi, which aims to improve the lives of children orphaned by AIDS living in Zambia. Hasbro has confirmed a donation of $500,000 of Zambi’s worldwide sales will be contributed to the project.
Some of the Zambian children who live in the communities dedicated to caring for the orphans were directly involved in the creative process of the project, designing the artwork for Zambi’s soft ears and feet, which are covered in a special detailed pink fabric pattern. The same artwork is replicated in the bracelet that’s included in the sale, which allows children to show their support for those less privileged than themselves.
A special edition of the ‘FurReal Friends’ animated plush line, Zambi has the unique benefit of offering parents the opportunity to teach their children about social issues in an accessible way, combining play with a serious message. As with all the Fur Real toys, Zambi has a distinct personality and can interact directly with children and is able to ‘come to life’.
He can shake hands by curling his trunk around little fingers, move his trunk up and down, wiggle his ears, blow kisses and play. Children will also be able to hear what an elephant sounds like as Zambi trumpets an elephant call, giggles and makes chewing noises.
Designed for children aged 4+, FurReal Zambi The Baby Elephant costs around £39.99, and is tipped to be one of 2009's most popular Christmas toys.
