LeapFrog’s Purple plush dog Violet is designed to help pre-school children learn about feelings and emotions, simple words, develop early number skills, identify animal sounds, establish daily routines and play interactive learning games using music.
Grab Violet’s left paw and she’ll launch songs, whilst her right paw introduces learning games, including counting hiccups and making animal sounds. The bottom right paw plays lullabies, whilst the bottom right switches Violet off.
My Puppy Pal Violet allows parents with a home connection to the internet the chance to keep an eye on their child’s progress and achievements with a piece of software called LeapFrog Connect, which gives the user access to their online Learning Path system. Once loaded, this software enables them to connect Violet to a PC and customise her settings, teaching her the child’s name, his/her favourite food, colour or animal.
Parents are also able to download tunes and lullabies from a library of 30 songs, get ideas on how to develop their child’s learning experience and discover what he or she is learning during play.
The customisation feature is particularly suited to older children as it allows them to play with Violet on a more personalised level. The ability to change Violet’s settings online has the added benefit that when one child outgrows Violet, she can be handed down to a younger brother or sister.
