Brand new for 2011, LEGO Cars 2 Big Bentley Bust Out (Set No. 8639) is bound to be a big hit with little boys. Aimed at mini petrol heads aged 7 and up, it’s a fun build that features character cars from the recently released Disney Pixar movie.
Lightning McQueen is in a spot of bother! He’s being held captive in Big Bentley and can’t make a great escape to compete in the World Grand Prix. Round up his buddies and plan a big bust out via the tower’s secret entrance.
Naturally, the cars are the stars of this 743-piece set. LEGO Cars 2 Big Bentley Bust Out includes the coolest cars from the film. Inside the box, you’ll find: World Grand Prix Lightning McQueen, Agent Mater, Finn McMissile, Holley Shiftwell, The Queen, Miles Axelrod and Professor Z. All measure over 5cm long and 2cm wide and are instantly recognisable as their silver screen counterparts. Outstanding features include the little bomb on Mater and the silver crown on The Queen. As ever, LEGO’s attention to detail is spot on.
Although the cars steal the show, that’s not to say this isn’t a fun and engaging build. Far from it! The Big Bentley Tower bears all the hallmarks of an ingenious LEGO creation. When constructed, it measures 33cm tall x 7cm wide. Complete with secret entrance for the big bust out, it also features a working lift, control panels and flag pole. The best thing about the tower is the cool little slammer function, which literally launches Lightning McQueen to freedom!
We’re expecting LEGO Cars 2 Big Bentley Bust Out to be a big feature on Christmas lists this year. Priced at around £70, it’s a smart choice if you’re looking for a main present for a car fanatic.
