This space craft unleashes the full power of the dark side of the force! LEGO Star Wars Republic Frigate (Set No. 7964) is big – really big. If you want to take up every single inch of space under the Christmas tree, accept no substitute.
New for 2011, this awesome 1015-piece LEGO set is a fun and absorbing build that will take a few hours to complete. When constructed, the Clone Wars frigate measures over 48cm long x 27cm x 12cm long so it’s bit of a beast! There are plenty of features that give alot of scope for role playing scenarios. The ship boasts a detachable escape pod/speeder, opening cockpit, rotating turbo-laser cannons, retractable undercarriage, folding legs, flick firing missiles and a holographic transmitter. Not to mention a ton of guns dotted around the ship’s body.
The attention to detail is impressive – most impressive! Front and back cockpits open and you can fit 3 minifigs inside the little pods within the frigate. Flip open hatches and pods and you’ll find mini dashboards, seating and storage areas.
There are 5 minifigs inside the box. First up we have a Clone Commander Wolfee with detachable helmet, battle-scarred face and 2 blasters. You also get a Wolf Clonepack Commander. Eeth Koth is included, with his distinctive hairpiece, facial markings and green lightsaber. Quinlan Vos has removable hair plus green lightsaber. The Yoda minifig features the character’s early Clone Wars hairstyle.
Put simply, the LEGO Star Wars Republic Frigate rocks. It doesn’t take a brain like Yoda’s to work out why it’s been touted as one of this year’s must-have toys. Priced at around £99.99 it is a blowout item but worth every penny. It works as either a Christmas gift for lucky little movie fan aged 9-14 or a showpiece for an avid Star Wars collector.
