Monopoly Revolution Board Game
This classic family game from Hasbro, thought to have been played by around a billion people, has been revolutionised to celebrate its 75th anniversary year.
Monopoly Revolution has a round board rather than the traditional square one, and property values have increased up to 10,000 times to reflect contemporary prices. So, for example, while with previous versions you could snap up a highly desirable Mayfair property for a snip at £400, you’ll know be forking out £4m. Old Kent Road may still represent the best value, but it’ll set you back £600,000 rather than the £60 it cost before.
But all the old favourites will be there and up for grabs, from Whitechapel to Kings Cross station. You’ll also be collecting a cool couple of million each time you pass GO! And you’ll find some new style tokens, houses and hotels.
You’ll find another fresh twist to Monopoly Revolution - a new game-pod device which keeps track of the millions the players are trading and acts as dice and banker. You’ll love the cool soundtrack, and will even be able to make credit card payments!
It may have undergone a string of packaging changes and special editions have covered everything from films to Manchester United, but the rules of the game remain essentially unchanged. And, just like its earlier incarnations, Monopoly Revolution can teach younger players negotiating, dealing and numeracy skills.
Given the nostalgic value of Monopoly, and its continuing popularity as the ultimate family board game, sales of Monopoly Revolution are likely to be brisk for Christmas 2010.
This hot Christmas toy is for up to six players, and suitable for children aged eight or older. Monopoly Revolution retails for around £30.
