Spykee Vox Robot
Another ingenious interactive creation from the Meccano stable, the warrior-style Spykee Vox Robot is voice-controlled and can listen, communicate and react to vocal commands in English or French.
Vox has some pretty impressive technology at his core and is actually 3 robots in 1, so kids can choose which form they’d like him to take on any given day and rebuild him according to 3 different configurations. He’s programmed to react to commands using 1 of 2 personalities (hero or villain) with different sounds and faces for each.
When he does move, kids will find him sensitive to obstacles in his path so he can zoom around without fuss. As if that wasn’t enough, his in-built infra-red universal remote control enables him to manipulate all manner of household gadgets. Fancy watching TV? No problem, Vox can turn the set on and change the channels. He is a warrior at heart and can carry out a range of attacks - fight, bomb or shoot.
Vox’s intuitive software (PC and Mac) makes it possible to program and personalise him. Kids can make new faces by clicking on the pixels and drawing their own creation. There’s also the ability to insert new sounds and create different movements for him to try. To activate the new programs, simply plug him into a computer using the USB and perform a download.
Want to listen to some music? Vox is compatible with iPod Nano and Touch, with his dock and in-built speakers that allow him to play music in stereo when vocally commanded. He’s pretty lively and will even dance around using emoticons and lights to provide entertainment.
Requires 6 x AA batteries (not included). Tools and instructions included. Dimensions; 30 x 30 x 30cm.
Suitable for ages 8 and up, the Spykee Vox Robot is available at around £99.99.
