VTech V.Smile Motion Console
As you may have guessed, the VTech V.Smile Motion Active Learning System is the younger kids’ answer to the popular games consoles that are everywhere today. As always, VTech has come up with a great toy that is both educational and lots of fun.
The learning system comes with a wireless controller that allows motion-activated play; your child will love seeing their character move in sync with them. Also, the controller can twist around to cater for left-handed players as well as those who are right-handed.
Each game has an age appropriate educational goal beneath all the fun and frolics, whether its maths, spelling, the alphabet or co-ordination, there is always something to be learnt. There are two skill levels to choose from in each game to give them an extra challenge once they have familiarised themselves with it.
There are many ‘Smartridge’ games available which include your child’s favourite characters such as Dora the Explorer, Winnie the Pooh and Spiderman. ‘Action Mania’ is a game which comes with the system to get you started. This free Smartridge is home to three categories of games - ‘Rapid Race’, a car racing game concerned with letters and spelling, ‘Backyard Party’ which includes an obstacle game centred around knowledge of healthy food and the third is ‘Raise a Racket’ which includes a tennis game.
All of the games come with the option of 2-Player mode so kids can compete against each other, or team up against the computer. The V.Smile Motion Active Learning system is extremely easy to set up and once it’s up and running many small children will be able to operate it without asking for your help. Also, although an AC adapter is available to buy, the system runs on just four AA Batteries so it can be used anywhere, like in the car with a portable DVD player.
Another bonus is that the system can connect to the internet; gold coins collected in the games can be used to unlock more games online, where you can also compare scores with other V.Smile players.
With many exciting games to choose from, a big but subtle focus on education and the fun motion-sensitive controller which encourages physical activity, the V.Smile Motion Active Learning System is a smart alternative to other games consoles whose attentions are less focused on the little ones.
